Walked out to my car, looked at the rear rotor and thought, “nice, the pad smear is getting worn off”. Then I look closer and see this:

Kinja'd!!!

Crap.

Wouldn’t you have heard that when braking?

I’m not uofime-2, but I had a groove like this show up in a rotor once. Nope - no real extra noise to speak of.

Track pads make terrible noises while street driving even when they aren’t worn to the backing plate haha. So yes it did make terrible noises.

They got reall hot at the track day Friday. Apparently the binder was ruined and they fell apart.

I guess I should just avoid pressing the brake pedal from now on.

Are those stock rotors? if so are you going to replace the rotors and pads with ones that can handle more heat or dissipate it more quickly?

These were track specific pads and oe replacement rotors( wore out oe set last year)

I’ve got a cheapo set of replacement rotors on order and my street pads sitting in the trunk.

I wore one of my pads down to the backing plate due to a seized caliper and every time I stopped it sounded like a freight train was approaching the car. It was painful.

They make a bit of a grinding noise and the fronts make a god awful screaming noise, but cold, street driven track pads always make terrible noises, so I was ignoring it and just planning to swap pads yesterday.
